Their home. Our waste. (no. 1)
Their Home. Our Waste. (No. 1) — Humpback Whales | Original Acrylic Painting
Meet the humpback whale, one of the ocean's most beloved and awe-inspiring creatures, rendered in dreamlike detail on an 18×24" gallery-wrapped, heavy-duty canvas.
This is the first painting in the Their Home. Our Waste. series, a collection that confronts ocean pollution by turning the problem into the medium. The vivid, textured background was created entirely using waste collected during beach clean-ups, not paintbrushes. In this piece, the materials include a broken piece of heavy plastic, fishing line, rope, a half-full can of black spray paint used to create the jellyfish, and a ziplock bag.
The result is a painting that doesn't just depict the crisis facing our oceans; it's made from it. Every mark in the background tells the story of what we leave behind in the places these animals call home.
